Privacy Policy

Visitors to The DELTAnet who are not paid subscribers have no personal information collected by the website.

Visitors who are subscribed as DELTAnet Members (members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority) are issued a personal username and password to access the private areas of the website. The username and password are again collected whenever the subscriber accesses the private areas of the website in order to verify the identity of the person attempting access. DELTAnet Members have also submitted identifying information about themselves to be included in the DELTAnet Electronic Mail Directory. The information includes their name, email address, chapter of initiation, and current chapter affiliation. In some instances, other information such as city and state of residence, membership category, and organizational positions held is also collected. This information is shared only with other DELTAnet Members, in the form of the Electronic Mail Directory. Although the subscriber's Delta membership number is collected in order to verify Delta membership, it is not shared with any other subscriber.

Persons who purchase subscriptions through the secure server must submit credit card and billing address information in order to process the transaction. This information is used solely to process the payment and is then destroyed by encryption.

In no case is the email address or identity of any subscriber ever shared, sold, loaned, or otherwise disseminated to any third party other than the information shared via the DELTAnet Electronic Mail Directory (for members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority only) and other areas of the website that the subscriber has specifically requested their contact information be used in. (Classifieds, Sorors Seeking Sorors, etc.).

The DELTAnet Electronic Mail Directory is to be used only for personal social networking. The DELTAnet prohibits the use of the Electronic Mail Directory for any mass mailing or commercial solicitation. Subscribers found to be abusing the directory will lose access to all private areas of the website and forfeit their membership.

The DELTAnet is taking active measures to eliminate SPAM. One of the easiest ways that SPAMMERS collect email addresses to send SPAM to is by harvesting the email addresses from the lists of addresses in forwarded emails. DELTAnet subscribers are prohibited from sending forwarded emails, chain letters, or especially any emails that contain "facts" that have not been verified by the sender to any email adddress that appears in the public or private areas of The DELTAnet. This includes any addresses owned or used by the webmaster of The DELTAnet. Failure to abide by this policy will result in the loss of access to all private areas of The DELTAnet. In plain English - If you value your DELTAnet membership, don't send forwarded emails to Bee Jae or any DELTAnet members...
